The app

musicinkloop does not collect or share personal data: nothing about you is sent to us, and there is no account, advertising, analytics or tracking.

• What you make stays on your device unless you send it. Pieces you save to the gallery are kept in the app's storage on your phone; the app uploads a piece only when you send it by link (below).
• Exporting is up to you. Sound, MIDI and video leave the app only when you choose to share them or save them to your phone. Saving a video on iPhone asks to add it to Photos (the app can add, not read); on Android 9 and earlier, saving asks for storage permission.
• Sending a piece by link: when you choose Piece in the share menu, the app uploads that piece (its lines or dots, its settings and inks; nothing about you) to musicinkloop.app, which keeps it so the link can be short. Anyone with the link can open the piece, in the app or in a web browser on musicinkloop.app. After a year in which no one sends or opens it, it can no longer be opened and is deleted. No account, IP address or device identifier is kept with it. To have a piece deleted sooner, write to us with its link.
• Photo to music: you choose a photo in the system photo picker, which gives the app only that photo. The photo is turned into a drawing on your device and never leaves it; the drawing it becomes is uploaded only if you send it by link.
• The studio (in-app purchase): buying and restoring are handled by the App Store or Google Play, through their own components in the app, under your store account and their privacy policies. The app keeps only a note on your device that the studio is yours; we receive no payment or personal details.
• Ratings: the app may show the system's rating prompt. Ratings and reviews are handled by Apple or Google.
• The week's theme: the home screen suggests something to make each week. The app fetches the list of themes from musicinkloop.app when it opens, and again when you come back to it after a few hours, and keeps the list on your device so it also shows offline. The request sends nothing about you or your pieces, and we keep no record of it. A week may come with another take on its theme, a piece kept on musicinkloop.app: the app fetches it only when you ask to see it, as it fetches a piece sent to you by link. If you turn on the weekly note, the app sets the notes on your device itself; nothing is sent to set them.
• Network: the instruments work offline. The app connects to the App Store or Google Play only to buy or restore the studio and to confirm with the store that it is yours, and to musicinkloop.app only to send a piece by link, to open one sent to you, to fetch the week's theme, and to fetch another take on it when you ask.

This website

The sketch on the homepage and the looping paper in the browser run on your device. Nothing you draw is sent to us. This site does not use analytics or advertising cookies.

A piece sent to you by link also opens here, in the browser: the page fetches that piece from musicinkloop.app and plays it on your device. Opening it counts as using it, so it is kept another year. Nothing about you is kept with it.

If a later version handles data in a new way, this page will be updated before that version is released.
